Find answers to common questions about our event production, equipment hire, delivery, installation and technical support across London and the UK. If you need advice for a specific event or venue, contact our team and we’ll help you plan the right sound, lighting, staging or LED screen solution.
What types of events do you provide production for?
Do you offer full event production or equipment-only hire?
Both options are available. We can manage the complete technical production, including planning, delivery, installation, operation and de-rig, or provide individual equipment on a dry-hire basis.
What event equipment can I hire?
Our hire stock includes professional sound systems, microphones, moving-head lighting, uplighters, staging, LED video walls, DJ equipment, rigging, power distribution, draping and special effects.
Do you deliver and install the equipment?
Yes. We provide delivery, professional installation and collection throughout London and the surrounding areas. UK-wide production can also be arranged depending on the event requirements.
Can you provide technicians during the event?
Yes. Sound engineers, lighting technicians, video technicians and general production crew can be supplied to operate the equipment and support the event.
Do you provide LED video wall hire?
Yes. We provide high-resolution LED video walls in various sizes for conferences, presentations, sporting events, product launches, private celebrations and branded displays.
Can you build a custom stage?
Yes. Our modular staging can be configured in different sizes, heights and layouts. Carpet, fascia, steps, custom finishes, LED screens and lighting structures can also be incorporated.
Can haze or special effects be used at my venue?
Haze, smoke effects, cold sparks and other special effects may be available, subject to venue permission, fire-alarm arrangements and an appropriate safety assessment.
Can you complete a site visit?
Yes. A site visit can be arranged where required to assess access, power, rigging, room dimensions, loading arrangements and the proposed production layout.
Do you provide risk assessments and method statements?
Yes. Relevant production documentation, including risk assessments, method statements and equipment information, can be prepared where required by the venue.
What information do you need to prepare a quotation?
Please provide your event date, venue, guest numbers, access times, event timings and the equipment or production services required. Photographs, floor plans and venue technical information are also helpful.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for weekends and busy event periods. Last-minute bookings may still be possible, subject to equipment and crew availability.
How do I secure my booking?
A booking is secured once the required booking fee has been paid and the booking terms have been accepted. The remaining balance is normally due 30 days before the event.
Are your prices subject to VAT?
Yes. Unless clearly stated otherwise, Portman Production prices are subject to VAT at the applicable rate.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for weekends and busy event periods. Last-minute bookings may still be possible, subject to equipment and crew availability.
